Masters of Clinical Counseling - Pacifica Graduate Institute, Certified Advanced Ayurveda Educator, Bhavana Institute of Ayurveda and Yoga, Certified Ayurveda Practitioner- Shaka Vansiya Ayurveda Center - Vaidya Mishra. B.A. Institute of Integral Studies, Pancha Karma therapist since 1989. Vedic Studies Maharishi International University 1981-86.
I created Ayurveda Amritanam Learning Center to share a wealth of knowledge that I gained during my time learning from my dear friend and teacher, internationally renowned, Ayurvedic physician, the late Vaidya Ramakant Mishra who was a master herbal formula maker, healer, and founder of Chandika Herbal Synergies. He was the most recent living exponent of his ancient Ayurvedic family lineage called Shaka Vansiya Ayurveda whose family is linked to vedic textbooks called Bhavan Prakash from over 2000 years ago.
During this incredible time of learning directly from this great master healer, between 1996 and to the time of his passing in 2017, was unlike any other life experience and now I want to share his knowledge of self-healing and my experience with you. For me, studying Ayurveda was like having an unconditional loving friend to support me through changing outer and inner circumstances. My experience showed me that the study and practice of Ayurveda can help anchor you through unfamiliar territory in life and keep your heart nurtured in uncertain times. The design of my course through weekly classes for nine months will give birth to not only knowledge of an ancient healing tradition of medicine but will culture your mind and body to experience and connect to its very own source of non-changing silent consciousness.
Vaidya R.K.Mishra (1952-2017) was an Ayurvedic health practitioner, product formulator, researcher, and educator, born into a family of Raj Vaidyas that is a many generations old lineage of Ayurvedic healers. This course is based on his teachings.
Vaidya Mishra held a GAMS (Graduate of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) degree from Bihar University and a Sanskrit degree from KSD University. Upon completing his formal institutional education he interned with his father, Kameshwar Mishra, for seven years, mastering the art and science of diagnosis and specialized remedy formulation as handed down in his ancestral lineage. As a professor at JD Modi College, Vaidya RK Mishra focused on teaching Ayurveda directly from ancient texts. His teachings in North America were based on these original Sanskrit texts, which he translated into English to ensure that his practitioners are well rooted in the pure, unbroken tradition of Ayurveda
Special Guest Instructors: Melina Takvorian-Mishra (PhD) – got her first Ayurveda consultation during her backpacking trip in North India – Dhamashala - from the Dalai Lama’s own Vaidya (Ayurvedic doctor) in 1998. She was intrigued and ready to learn more. Back in New York City, she sought out other Ayurveda Practitioners and started to read anything ayurvedic she could get her hands on. But it was not until she met Vaidya Mishra that same year that things came together. She knew she had met her ayurvedic guru the greatest of living healers and teachers. In 2002 as she was completing her graduate work on trans-generational trauma, she started working with Vaidya Mishra – writing articles and researching ayurvedic remedies for healing the heart and mind. In 2003 together they co-founded 2 companies for ayurvedic formulations and knowledge. For 14 years, Melina traveled and work with Vaidya as he offered courses and consultations across USA, Canada, and Europe. Vaidya Mishra attained mahasamadhi in 2017 and since then Melina has been keeping things running, maintaining ful range of ayurvedic herbal formulas, as well as the SVA teaching in the form of audiovisual, print and other courses available to a global audience. Ayurveda is her greatest passion, and she loves to share it with all. For more information: www.chandika.com
